MY COSTUME – MY HISTORY

The documentation and exhibition project “My Costume – My History” was created as part of the museum’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the dissolution of the Swedish-Norwegian Union. The project focused on national costumes as an important identity marker in a time characterised by cultural diversity. Thirty women from different countries and ethnic groups talked about their origins, about carrying several national or ethnic identities, and about the national costume or traditional costume as an identity symbol.
